About Us
The Black Bull, the second oldest purpose built coaching house in Barnsley, was built in 1773, and extended in the 1880's. It stands on the route of the A61, historically one of the main York to London routes and was reputedly one of Highwayman Dick Turpin's regular haunts.
The black bull is a traditional family run pub that is enjoyed by both local people, and people who are visiting both the accommodations at the black bull or the nearby travel lodge. There is a good selection of local beers from John Smiths, Stones Carling and Fosters or if you’re a cider lover we have Strongbow and Woodpecker as well as a good range of bottled drinks. Food is also available from our kitchen tuesdays to friday 5 to 8 pm and saturdays from 12 to 5 pm, why not come and sample our 12oz barnsley chop or something from our specials board.
There is some form of entertainment most nights from karaoke to disco pub quiz to poker darts and pool, so something for everyone. So come down see what’s on.
